Beam Bending Moment Formulas — Simply Supported

Uniform Distributed Load (UDL)

M_max = wL² / 8    (at midspan)
V_max = wL / 2     (at supports)

Central Point Load

M_max = PL / 4     (at midspan)
V_max = P / 2      (at each support)

These formulas assume a simply supported beam with a pin at one end and a roller at the other. For continuous beams, fixed ends, or cantilevers, the distribution changes — use Civora's full beam module for multi-span analysis.
